A Ubisoft account carries your Ubisoft Connect library and progress across every game — and some games require 2-Step verification outright. Rainbow Six Siege’s competitive modes on PC, Ranked and Siege Cup, need it turned on together with a phone number on the account. An authenticator app keeps a stolen password from being enough to sign in.

Turn on 2-Step verification at Ubisoft

Ubisoft finishes the setup through a link sent to your account email, so have your inbox open. It may also ask you to add a recovery phone number first. Only one 2-Step verification method is on at a time.

Sign in to your Ubisoft account on your computer and open the “Security” page.
In the 2-Step verification section, choose “Activate” on the “Authenticator app” tile.
Add a recovery phone number if Ubisoft asks for one, then select “Send”.
Open the email Ubisoft sends, select the link in it and follow the instructions to set up the authenticator app.
When the setup shows a QR code, leave it on the screen and add it to the extension as described below — then enter the code from the extension to finish.

Install 2FA Authenticator from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar, so its icon is one click away.
Leave the Ubisoft page with the QR code open. Click the Authenticator icon, then “Add Account” → “QR Code” → “Scan QR from screen”.
The account appears in the list with a six-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Rename it if you like — the name is only for you.
Go back to Ubisoft and type the current code into the confirmation field. If it is about to expire, wait for the next one.
Ubisoft confirms that two-factor authentication is on. From now on it will ask for a code when you sign in — click the extension icon and copy it.

No QR code, or it will not scan? Look for the option to enter a key manually on Ubisoft’s setup screen, copy the key, and add it in the extension with “Add Account” → “Manual” → “Secret Key”.

Save your six Ubisoft recovery codes

Once 2-Step verification is on, Ubisoft gives you six recovery codes, each single-use. Save them somewhere other than this computer: a recovery code signs you in when the authenticator is not available. To get a fresh set, Ubisoft asks you to deactivate 2-Step verification and activate it again.

The code is not accepted?

Almost always the computer’s clock. The codes are calculated from the current time, so a clock that is a minute off produces codes that look right and are refused. Turn on automatic date and time in your system settings — step-by-step for Windows, macOS and Linux.

If the clock is right, check the key itself: paste it into the TOTP code generator and compare the code with the one in the extension. If they differ, the key was copied wrong — add the account again.
