ElevenLabs authenticator app

ElevenLabs two-factor authentication works with any authenticator app, including one in your browser. Open Settings from your profile icon, click “Add Two-Factor Authentication”, scan the QR code from the screen with the Authenticator extension, and finish with “Verify & Enable”.

An ElevenLabs account holds your cloned voices, your projects and a paid credit balance, and its API keys can spend that balance. A stolen password is enough to use all of it. With 2FA on, ElevenLabs asks for the code from your authenticator every time you log in — and it lifts the monthly cap on Pay As You Go credit purchases, which applies only to accounts without 2FA.

Turn on two-factor authentication in ElevenLabs

If the QR code does not appear, ElevenLabs says it is usually because you have not logged in recently: log out, log back in, and open Settings again.

  1. Log in at elevenlabs.io on your computer.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top right corner to open the account menu, and select “Settings”.
  3. Click “Add Two-Factor Authentication”.
  4. ElevenLabs shows a QR code for your authenticator app.
  5. Leave the QR code on the screen and add it to the extension as described below — then enter the code from the extension and click “Verify & Enable”.
ElevenLabs’s own instructions

Add ElevenLabs to Authenticator

  1. Install 2FA Authenticator from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar, so its icon is one click away.
  2. Leave the ElevenLabs page with the QR code open. Click the Authenticator icon, then “Add Account” → “QR Code” → “Scan QR from screen”.
  3. The account appears in the list with a six-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Rename it if you like — the name is only for you.
  4. Go back to ElevenLabs and type the current code into the confirmation field. If it is about to expire, wait for the next one.
  5. ElevenLabs confirms that two-factor authentication is on. From now on it will ask for a code when you sign in — click the extension icon and copy it.

No QR code, or it will not scan? Look for the option to enter a key manually on ElevenLabs’s setup screen, copy the key, and add it in the extension with “Add Account” → “Manual” → “Secret Key”.

Keep your ElevenLabs backup code

Right after 2FA is turned on, ElevenLabs shows a backup code — one code, shown only this once; you will not be able to see it again. It is what lets you remove 2FA from your account if your authenticator is gone, so copy it somewhere other than this computer before you close the window.

The code is not accepted?

Most often the QR code changed: the website makes a new one each time its setup page is reloaded or opened again, so the account you added first no longer matches. Start the setup again, add the QR code that is on the screen now and type its code in straight away. Two entries for the same website? Use the newest. Other reasons: why codes are refused.

Typed the key in by hand? Paste it into the TOTP code generator and compare the code with the one in the extension. If they differ, the key was copied wrong — add the account again.

Questions

Can I use ElevenLabs 2FA without a phone?
Yes. ElevenLabs asks you to scan the QR code with your preferred authentication app, and any app that supports standard time-based codes (TOTP) will do — including the Authenticator extension, which reads the QR code straight off the ElevenLabs settings page.
Does 2FA change how many credits I can buy on ElevenLabs?
Yes. Without 2FA, Pay As You Go purchases are capped per calendar month — from $100 on the Free, Starter and Creator plans to $2,000 on Business — and Auto Top Up counts toward the cap. Turning on 2FA removes it.
What if I lose access to my authenticator?
Use the backup code you saved during setup — ElevenLabs says it lets you remove 2FA from your account. Its help does not describe a way back without it, so keep the code safe, keep the extension’s automatic backups on, and contact ElevenLabs support if both are gone.
Why does ElevenLabs say my code is wrong?
Usually the computer clock is off by a minute or more. Turn on automatic date and time and try the next code. If it still fails, the account may have been added from an old QR code — remove it from the extension and set 2FA up again.
