On the Crypto.com Exchange, 2FA is required before you can manage withdrawals, deposits and API keys. In the Crypto.com App, once 2FA is on, every crypto or fiat withdrawal, transfer to another user and new whitelisted address needs the code when you use an untrusted device. Whoever steals your password or passcode still cannot move your funds without the six digits from your authenticator.
Turn on 2FA on Crypto.com
These steps are for the Crypto.com Exchange website, where the QR code appears on the computer screen. In the Crypto.com App, 2FA is set up on the phone: Settings → Security → 2-Factor Authentication → Enable 2FA; the app shows the QR code and a button to copy the key, which you can add in the extension with “Add Account” → “Manual” → “Secret Key”. Crypto.com says the App and the Exchange share one 2FA code; the Crypto.com Onchain wallet has its own.
- Go to crypto.com/exchange on your computer and select “Log In” in the upper right corner.
- Go to your Profile and select “Security” → “Account Password and 2FA”.
- Under “2-Factor Authentication”, click “Enable 2FA”.
- Copy the key shown next to the QR code somewhere safe — Crypto.com will not show it again.
- When Crypto.com shows a QR code, leave that page open and add it to the extension as described below — then enter the 6-digit code from the extension and click “Enable 2FA”.
Add Crypto.com to Authenticator
- Install 2FA Authenticator from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar, so its icon is one click away.
- Leave the Crypto.com page with the QR code open. Click the Authenticator icon, then “Add Account” → “QR Code” → “Scan QR from screen”.
- The account appears in the list with a six-digit code that changes every 30 seconds. Rename it if you like — the name is only for you.
- Go back to Crypto.com and type the current code into the confirmation field. If it is about to expire, wait for the next one.
- Crypto.com confirms that two-factor authentication is on. From now on it will ask for a code when you sign in — click the extension icon and copy it.
No QR code, or it will not scan? Look for the option to enter a key manually on Crypto.com’s setup screen, copy the key, and add it in the extension with “Add Account” → “Manual” → “Secret Key”.

Crypto.com gives no backup codes. The key shown during setup is unique to that setup and will not be shown again — and it is what lets you re-bind your account in a new authenticator; without it, 2FA has to be disabled and enabled again. Keep it on paper, away from this computer and as private as a password.
The code is not accepted?
Most often the QR code changed: the website makes a new one each time its setup page is reloaded or opened again, so the account you added first no longer matches. Start the setup again, add the QR code that is on the screen now and type its code in straight away. Two entries for the same website? Use the newest. Other reasons: why codes are refused.
Typed the key in by hand? Paste it into the TOTP code generator and compare the code with the one in the extension. If they differ, the key was copied wrong — add the account again.
Questions
- Which authenticator app works with Crypto.com?
- Any app that produces standard time-based codes (TOTP). Crypto.com recommends Authy, names Google Authenticator as well, and says it supports various authenticators. The Authenticator extension reads the QR code straight off the Exchange page in Chrome; the codes it shows are numbers only, which is what Crypto.com expects.
- Can I set up Crypto.com 2FA on my computer?
- On the Exchange, yes — the steps above run in the browser. The Crypto.com App sets up 2FA only on the phone, but the codes do not have to stay there: copy the key the app shows into the extension with “Add Account” → “Manual” → “Secret Key”, or scan the app’s QR code with the computer’s camera using “Add Account” → “QR Code” → “Scan QR with camera”.
- How do I move Crypto.com 2FA to a new phone?
- If you saved the key, add it manually to the new authenticator. Otherwise reset it in the Crypto.com App: Settings → Security → 2-Factor Authentication → “Reset 2FA”. You confirm with a passkey, or with your passcode and a code from the old authenticator — without either, with your passcode and identity verification — then scan the new code. Resetting the App’s 2FA also resets the Exchange’s, so enable it there again. On the Exchange alone, Crypto.com support asks for a video of you holding your ID and then emails a magic link; withdrawals may be paused for 24 hours.
- Is 2FA required for withdrawals on Crypto.com?
- On the Exchange, yes: Crypto.com requires 2FA to manage withdrawals, deposits and API keys. In the App, 2FA is something you turn on, and once it is on it becomes mandatory for every transaction type — crypto and fiat withdrawals, whitelisting addresses, gift cards — whenever you use an untrusted device.
